Make Your Mark: Camila’s Dad
Camila was born in Baja California Sur, Mexico, to a resilient migrant mother. Driven by the hope of better opportunities, they traveled to the remote agricultural fields of Vizcaíno. However, when Camila arrived, her mother faced an immediate problem: without her own birth certificate, she couldn't register Camila's birth with the Civil Registry office. While she received a “birth notice” from the hospital, she even lost that in the instability of migrant life.
The challenging reality of migrant farm work in remote Vizcaíno meant that taking a day off to visit distant Civil Registry services was nearly impossible. Years passed, and Camila remained officially unregistered, leaving her fundamental identity and rights in legal limbo.
After Camila’s mother died, Camila searched for her father. When he discovered where she was, he immediately moved across the country to be with his daughter.
When he realized that Camila had no birth certificate, he tirelessly knocked on many doors at civil registries and government institutions, hoping for help. But time and again, he was told it was impossible to register Camila due to her age and the numerous complex documents required.
But Mr. Juarez refused to let the difficulties defeat him. Against all odds, he decided to keep fighting. He finally arrived at Inalienable. Through his unwavering perseverance and Inalienable's precise legal understanding and dedicated teamwork, we were able to navigate the intricate legal and bureaucratic system.
Although the process took longer than initially anticipated, today we celebrate with Camila as she Makes Her Mark to register her birth certificate. Her rights as a citizen are finally being recognized.
