How are Donations Spent?

  • 100% of donations fund the costly procedures for Inalienable clients and qualifying business expenses (the most significant being office rent and fuel for travel). Crucially, Inalienable staff are not paid through donations.

  • The birth certificate itself isn't expensive (ranging from 270 MXN to 6460 MXN).

    What's costly is everything else that needs to be done before applying for it. This often includes extensive searches of records in other states, known as a Certificate of Non-Existence, or even court appearances.

    Therefore, the cost of these procedures can vary considerably for each person. However, the average total cost is around $110 USD.

  • Currently, staff time is donated by an independent law firm in Baja California. This ensures that your financial support goes directly to Inalienable's clients.

  • While Inalienable is a formally recognized non-profit in Mexico, US Tax law does not offer tax deductions for donations to nonprofits outside the USA. If you are a taxpayer in the USA, your donations are not tax-deductible.
    (If that’s a problem for you, let us know! There are ways to resolve this, and perhaps we need to prioritize that).
